| Ryle Holds Off Paul Dunbar's Comeback Attempt |

The Ryle Raiders (1-3) were reeling from a loss last week to the NewCath Thoroughbreds and were looking to take it out on whomever was in front of them. That happened to be the Bulldogs of Lexington's Paul Dunbar High School.
The Ryle offense was looking to get the ball rolling early in this game. They did that often by scoring four touchdowns in the first quarter. Quarterback Jordan Brady was able to connect with Tyler Madlom on a 27 yard touchdown pass that got the scoring going only a minute into the game. Ryle's defense was able to get the Bulldogs to go three and out on their first possession and give the offense some more scoring chances. Brady once again would factor in the scoring by slamming the ball in on a one-yard keeper. Ross Uminger was able to tack on the PAT to make it 14-0.
The scoring would continue for the Raiders based on the good field position they were gettting. Ryle's third touchdown came after a blocked punt by Senior Greg Ashworth. Tailback Scott Gray was able to push the ball in for a two-yard score. After an interception by Josh Morgan that eventually led to a four-yard pass from Brady to Vince Murray, it looked as if the game had already gotten out of hand as Ryle was dominating 28-0. Then along came the Bulldogs.
Ryle would fail to score in the second quarter and after gaining only 2 first downs in 5 possessions in the first quarter, Dunbar came out with their option offense finally clicking. With just nine seconds off the second quarter clock, WR Keith Bailey faked everyone out and ran the ball 43 yards up the middle for a TD. QB Chris Franklin would add a TD from two yards out on a QB keeper and the Bulldogs would go into halftime trailing 28-14.
The first play of the second half saw Marshall Mays muff a return before finding his grip and returning the ball 91 yards for a TD. It was the only scoring play of the third quarter.
The fourth quarter rolled along and Dunbar certainly felt it had changed it's fortune before a fumble out of the hands of Mike Sweat. Sweat had also dropped sure TD pass in the first quarter. That led to another Scott Gray TD, who led all rushers with 32 carries for 203 yards and 2 TD's. Dunbar was able to add one more score with 9:50 left in the game, but it was to no avail. Ryle would continue to manage the clock well and pick first down after first down. Drew Morgan struck last with a 31 yard TD run. Ryle was able to run the clock out and pick up their first win by the count of 42-28.
Next week Ryle takes on Campbell County (2-1).
