| Campbell Co Moves Closer To Playoff Spot/Winning Season With 39-19 Win Over Scott |

For the first half, the highly favored 3-2 Campbell County Camels and the upstart 1-4 Scott Eagles played ask and answer football with Scott drawing first-blood early in the contest, running out to a 6-0 lead on a 60 yard pass play from Sophomore quarterback Ryan Bianchi to sophomore wide receiver Curtis Spencer. The Camels were quick to answer as QB Steve Brown went on a 34 yard scamper to knot the score at 6, and Alex Martin tacked on the extra point to put a nose in front at 7-6, which is where the score stood at the conclusion of the first quarter.
Again Bianchi would take the air route, connecting on a 14 yard pass play to Chad Mihalavich, putting the Eagles back on top 12-7 when their two-point conversion play failed. Campbell County answered again on a 48 yard pass play of their own when Brown hooked up with Jeff Fry. The Camels would score again late in the half on a Johnny Popp 2-Yard carry, putting the Camels on top 19-12 at intermission.
The Eagles proved to be resiliant and up to the task marching 50 yards on their opening possession of the second half, topped off by a run from two yards out on the keeper by QB Bianchi and a successful PAT by the same Bianchi knotting the score at 19 and the Camels found themselves in a dog-fight with these young Scott Eagles. As scripted, the Camels would score on their next possession, capping off a 64-yard scoring drive to take the lead for good at 26-19 as Johnny Popp delivered the mail into the endzone and Danny Hildebrand tacked on the extra-point.
It appeared then that Scott would answer even this score as they were deep in the Camel red-zone, third and goal when Hunter Craig would scoop up an Eagle fumble and return it 94 yards for the Camel TD, transforming what appeared to be going to become a 26 all contest into a 33-19 Cambell County advantage - Game/Set/Match Campbell County. The Camels would tack on another "icing on the cake" TD late in the game to make the final 39-19 in this contest that the scoreboard did not at all indicate the competitiveness of the young Scott Eagles.
For the game Popp ran for 173 yards on 27 carries and three TDs and QB Brown tacked on 109 yards on 12 carries. Zach Rose was impressive out of the Camel backfield, and Hunter Craig the hero for the Camels with the fumble recovery and ensuing TD. Campbell County improves to 4-2 on the season and 2-1 in the AAAA race and will host the Simon Kenton Pioneers in a key AAAA battle next Friday night at Bob Miller Stadium. The Scott Eagles fall to 1-5 and 0-3.
