Republic Bank Game of the Week - NewCath at Beechwood
10/27/2011 - by NKS Editor
This week’s Game of the Week features the Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds (9-0) vs. the Beechwood Tigers (8-1). Even though this is no longer a District game, these two teams always bring their best when they play. Before last years game, NewCath had won four straight, but Beechwood put an end to the win streak with a 40-39, double overtime win. The game winning play for the Tigers was also a controversial play, as the 2-point conversion looked to be an incomplete pass, but the referee called him having possession while breaking the plane of the goal line.
