Cooper 27 Campbell County 16
9/8/2012 - by Lizzie Kibler
The Cooper Jaguars rolled in undefeated (3-0) at Campbell County (2-1) tonight. The Cooper Jaguars remained undefeated tonight at Campbell County with Cooper’s Aaron Morgan (#8) being the Republic Bank Player of the Game.

Cooper’s first drive led them to the 9 yard line. A pass to Cooper’s Aaron Morgan (#8) at the back of the end zone was ruled out of bounds because Morgan had stepped out. However Morgan scored on a 46 yard touchdown throw, followed with another 33 yard touchdown reception later in the quarter. Cooper’s Tyler Morris (#7) ran for a 2 point conversion, pushing the score to 14-0.

In the second quarter Cooper’s AJ Collins (#31) ran for a 2 yard touchdown, however the extra point was no good. After Cooper’s kickoff, Campbell County’s Bobby Moore (#24) returned the ball 15 yards to Campbell County’s 35. Tyler Durham (#18) and Stephen Myers (#9) combined to successfully keep the ball on the ground driving to the 3 yard line. Durham then ran for a touchdown with the Camel’s Paul Griffis (#25) adding the extra point. Campbell County’s Grant Mahoney (#17) kicked a 24 yard field goal ending the second quarter at 20-10.

After a 90 minute lightning delay, the game resumed. On the first play of the third quarter, the Jaguar’s A.J. Collins ran the ball to Campbell County’s 18 yard line. On the very next play, Morris kept the ball and ran it in for an 18 yard touchdown.
On the next drive, Campbell County kept the ball on the ground. With first and goal from the 5 yard line, Durham was hit at the line of scrimmage but dragged the pile in for a touchdown.

In the fourth quarter with the ball on 42, Collins ran the ball down to the 27 yard line. Quarterback Morris was then later overtaken by Campbell County’s Nick Sauerbeck (#52) stopping the Jaguars’ drive. This was a good move by Campbell County’s defense. At the end of the fourth quarter, Cooper was content to run down the clock. The game ended with Cooper winning 27-16.

“It was a good win,” Aaron Morgan (#8) said but it was a “tough game.”
