Week 10 Republic Bank Football Game of the Week
10/26/2012 - by NKS Editor
This week’s Game of the Week features the Beechwood Tigers (6-3) vs. the Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds (5-4).

Both teams started the season with some losses but have rebounded with win streaks. Beechwood has won 5 straight with the most recent victory over Ludlow last week 61-0. The Tigers are led by Senior RB Max Nussbaum. NewCath has won 3 straight and they defeated Holy Cross last week 49-10. The Breds are led by Senior RB Dylan Hayes who has rushed for 1,059 yards and 17 TD’s. This is no longer a District game but still a great rivalry game. Beechwood has won the past 2 games against NewCath with last year’s score being 29-20.

Lloyd at Bellevue
This could be an interesting matchup between the 2A Juggernauts and 1A Tigers. Lloyd (7-2) defeated Newport last week 30-19 but should have a tougher time against Bellevue (5-4). The Tigers will have their hands full trying to stop Senior QB Dexter Smith who has 696 yards rushing with 12 rush TD’s along with 1,740 passing yards and 15 pass TD’s. Bellevue will counter with their top offensive threat, Junior Dylan Huff, who leads the Tigers with 1,357 rush yards and 17 TD’s.

Dixie at Cooper
Dixie holds a 3-6 record but 2 of their wins have been against 6A District opponents giving them a home Playoff game next week against Henry Clay. Cooper (8-1) still doesn’t know their 5A District playoff position until after this weekend as their tied with both Conner and South Oldham. Cooper defeated Dixie last year 35-14.
