St. Henry Comeback Attempt Falls Short
2/3/2006 - by Seth Millhoan
Hometown students packed the gym as the Crusaders of St. Henry played host to the visting Holy Cross Indians. They would go to the post-game dance hanging their heads as their men would fall to a superior opponent.
Holy Cross came out shooting and scored often in the early goings of the game. Indians players Jim Ryan and Nick Steenken contributed more than their fare share of points and played aggressive post defense as Holy Cross jumped out big early. The Crusaders were having a tough time getting open underneath and the man defense was too much to handle. With few open shots available in the first half, it was time for a different strategy come half time.

The Indians went into the half with the lead. They came out of the locker room looking to kill some clock and work over the St. Henry offense as they continued to play their staunch man to man defense. What they weren't expecting was the Crusaders to finally break their full-court press and start running to the basket in a ferocious attempt to get back into the game.

Down by no more than 15 at the start of the second-half, St. Henry finally found a way to start scoring. Lead by Ben Kuebbing and Adam Faust, the Crusaders pulled within five before they ran out of gas. The good shots that started to open up were not taken advantage of and the team missed too many free throws to get any closer. Holy Cross wins this Northern Kentucky High School matchup 59-51.
